Back in April I was lucky to be invited to visit Las Vegas for the 40th anniversary of Evel Knievel's most well known jump The Fountain at Caesar’s Palace. Also on this trip I went to San Francisco for the Bullitt's 40th Anniversary.

Well where do I start?
The alarm goes off @ 4.00am and I wake up have a tea & shower & get dressed ready to be taken to the airport.
Dave arrives on the dot I say goodbye to my wife & kids & head off to Gatwick.

After a long flight to Atlanta we have a well earned beer.......or 2 ! Then catch the connecting flight to Las Vegas.

After a 4 hour flight & not seeing a great deal out of the window I could see a load of lights in the distance Vegas was in sight!

That day was a bit of a blur I do need my sleep & quite rightly got to the hotel & fell asleep as the next day was another early start to San Francisco.

5.00 am we were up & on our way to the airport. 2 hours later we were in SF what a great place bags of character and the streets look fabulous.

So after a cooked breakfast @ a 50's diner which was Fab, we went on the Bullit run it's the 40th anniversary this August.........although we were on foot & not on a bike or in a Mustang!

Having watched the film a few times it was great seeing the places.

The highlight of the day was going to the corner shop where Steve Mcqueen bought his frozen meals where we met Jonny K (sounds like a Gangster ) he was a real Character I will never forget him!! If you fancy a bag of peanuts all the way from San Fransisco email me dave@jacklilley.com I have 10 bags to give away!

Those SF hills do take it out of your legs so Enricos seemed like a fitting place to have another few beers!
While we were off down to pier 39 to take a trip to Alcatraz we walked straight through the Olympic Games protests! We got to the boat where we waited for the 1 hour long tour but alas it was not meant to be as the boat broke down & no it was not made by Triumph!!!! Oh well it was just not meant to be ....maybe next time.

That was another long day but strangely when we got back to the hotel & had a few beers I didn't seem so tired I seem to remember going to my room at around 5.30AM!!

Well the weekend soon came around & the arrival of some fantastic classic & custom cars just my thing! the amount of time & money these Guys put into their cars is great with most of them being 5 ltr V8's they are obviously not the most economical to run however the Americans only pay $5 a gallon & they were still moaning, well come over to the UK & fill up here @ £5 per gallon!!

The week went very quickly and the flight home went without a hitch I landed @ Gatwick at 8.30 am was collected by my wife & kids then had to be at Luton for 12.00 for our family holiday to Spain!

Overall I had a great time with some fond memories.
